oven roasted bbq pork ribs

Last night I made ribs for Ron, I'll admit, I was nervous about it as I'm not all that great a cook, I've only ever made pork ribs one other time and Ron grilled them and I really didn't want to screw this up. This recipe was an oven baked recipe with a homemade BBQ sauce. I think I'm going to tweak the recipe for BBQ sauce, more like the one my mom used to make when I was a kid, I could have eaten that with a spoon! I did in fact if I recall correctly. But anyway, this particular recipe was rubbed down with a mixture of spices and love, set on a rack on pan and placed in the oven to cook, I think next time I'll just place them on the pan because the pork is really lean and what little fat there was dripped out and may have caused them to be dryer than they could have been. They didn't appear to be shoe leather tough, and Ron enjoyed them. Now it's hard for me to say, as I don't eat it and I'm no Ree Drummond, so maybe I should stick to the recipe and leave the tweaking to the pros.

  1. Look great, I have never eaten ribs....but must admit to eat BBQ sauce with a spoon too!

On another part of the pig I did buy from you ...THE BACON: It was the best bacon I have EVER eaten! I am not just saying that to please you either. THE BEST! I baked in the oven * 375 degrees for 25 minutes* I served it as the main course on my birthday to my extended family as BLT's...they all said it was the best they had ever eaten too!

  2. I'm so pleased! My understanding is that when an animal has had a stressful life (i.e. cafo) it builds up toxins which is stored in their fat which when eaten transfers to you.* Hence meat consumption related health issues. Our girls were happy and not stressed out, and I'm told that good meat comes from happy animals.

*I'm not a doctor or health expert, it's just what I've found in doing research and to me it makes sense.

  5. Ask the consumer of what you see in the picture - I can attest to them tasking very good. Probably would have gnawed on the bone for hours, but it would have freaked out the kids!

  6. it totally would have freaked them as well as me! Funny thing though, several of those who've tried the meat we've raised have commented about gnawing on the bones afterwards...

  7. Any chance you'll be posting your BBQ recipe? On the subject of small farm raised meat: (I'll get on my soap box now) Happy meat tastes good and is healthier for you. Happy pigs/cows/chickens that get to act like pigs/cows/chickens and roam the earth freely, eat what nature intended is soooo much better for the consumer. I hope the rest of the population wakes up to this fact.

So what's the view from your world about that? I'd enjoy hearing it.
