anything more beautiful??

Is there anything more beautiful than quilts; made by loves ones since departed and dear friends, hanging on the clothesline in the fresh country air?

what a gift!

My husband has an Aunt who is a quilting extraordinaire, seriously, she makes beautiful quilts. She has a fabric stash and quilting room that would make most quilters drool, cabinets lined with fabric, and color coordinated. Oh to have a room like that!
Well, now I do! She knows that I enjoy quilting and decided my sister-in-law and I would be the recipients of a recent purge! There is nearly 70 pounds of fabric on the table and I had to take a picture because it was so beautiful! I'm itching to start about a thousand projects with it but need to finish up some other projects I'm currently working on first. I know my husband would appreciate that. Besides, having all that fabric, which looks like my own personal fabric store, makes me a little giddy! My sister does not get it, she thinks it's beautiful all right but it's not her thing. Mom on the other hand totally gets it! She's a fellow quilter and appreciates what a wonderful gift this is. It's getting to be that time of year when I start thinking about Christmas giving and am pretty sure there is a major quilting bee in our future. Last year we pulled off three quilts in the fall and the fall before was a huge undertaking for my Grandmother's bed. We made a Christmas quilt, (she LOVES Christmas) it was a ton of work and lots of pieces and a very happy Grandmother. I wonder what is in store this year.... I know one thing, I cannot wait to start!
Thank you so much Aunt Judy, what a blessing you've given me! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

quilt show causes identity crisis

See a pattern here?!

Mom, Faith, Andrew and I went to a quilt show yesterday and once again were in amazement at these beautiful hand crafted works of art, so inspiring! We've been going since I was pushing the kids around in a double stroller. Not the place most kids would want to spend the day, but my children look forward to this yearly. So anyway, I got home, transferred the pictures I took to my computer and scanned back through them and thought hummm there is definitely a theme going on here. Do you see what I see?! Mind you this is just a small sampling of the pictures I took, (there were over 100, not too bad seeing as there were over 800 quilts!) Apparently I like quilts that feature squares, squares on point and stars in blues, greens and browns. Ugh I had no idea, but it jumped out to me as I looked back through the pictures. All my life I've been told I'm "unique," "bold," "eclectic," "twisted," "out-there," what have you, and loved every minute of 'freaking people out, being unconventional, going against the flow' but this made me question that. Am I as 'twisted' as I've been told? are people just saying that? what makes me drawn to this one particular style? Am I dare I say predictable? Gak! I hope not! Ugh! Well there it is, my freak out identity crisis, it is what it is I guess. I'm comfortable with who I am regardless whether I'm predictable or not and I suppose that is what matters.

one of my favorites! (above)

Not anything I'd ever try, but SO beautiful and meaningful! No this is not a painting, it's an actual pieced together quilt!

LOVED the sentiment of this! Having said that or thought it on occasion!

Would really like to make a quilt similar to this, only incorporate more of the farm.

Stunning and mostly appliqued!

Maybe a combo of the farmers market quilt and this one, loved the Nubians! Very well done!

Quilt done - Check

A friend of mine is adopting a little boy from Estonia soon and I thought I'd make a quilt for this wonderful occasion. I decided to make this log cabin style quilt as is symbolizes home, the four squares in the center represent the two countries and the heart is covering all four squares to represent love and joining of lives together. As far as I know this young boy does not speak English yet, (or maybe limited at best) so I thought she could start teaching him the colors when she's tucking him in at night using this quilt. That's why the quilt is made like this, it had a purpose, it's not a traditional quilt, well seriously, what did you expect from 'Twisite' but it is traditional in the fact it's made with love.

the walking foot

What a neat invention the walking foot is! This weekend I spent sewing, knitting and crafting and what a good time it was; the basement/sewing/laundry room was lit up with mini Christmas trees that my son hauled out of storage and plugged in, we had a nice crackling fire, a scented candle and Christmas music blared at times... We were working on baby quilts for a local soldiers twin babies and usually I tack the quilts with embroidery floss, but this time I used the walking foot that my machine came with and what a huge blessing that was. Not only are the quilts done, they are actually quilted! I never would have attempted that with out a walking foot. Strange name wonderful results.
