In September, I got a shipment of 30 Jumbo Cornish Xs from a hatchery in MO. By the time I got them they were at least 8 hours past their 72 hours of yolk so many were dead or died within a day. As they grew, at least 4 died of heart attacks, one right in front of me. They were very hard to keep clean and only one or two ventured out doors. Another time, I would raise them in the summer and force them to go outside during the day. With all of this said, they were pretty tasty birds though. I ended up with 13 out of the 30 in my freezer.
This has to be a meat chicken. Raised them last fall. Not one of my best projects.
ReplyDeletehe is indeed. We enjoy it, not as much as other things, but it goes fairly fast so it's not bad. What happened with you?
